PIPP Accidental Death Benefit
We have had several calls from pilots recently joining the PIPP regarding the Accidental Death Benefit included within the PIPP – specifically how it works!
To recap – The Insure First Pilots Income Protection Plan includes as standard USD $ 125,000 cover as an Accidental Death Benefit. Cover under this benefit can be increased up to USD $ 500,000 and the additional cover of USD $ 375,000 would cost just USD $ 375.00.
This benefit would not only become payable in the event of death due to an accident, but it also provides the following:-
Total and irrecoverable loss of sight of both eyes 100% of Sum Insured
Total and irrecoverable loss of sight of one eye 100% of Sum Insured
Loss of two limbs 100% of Sum Insured
Loss of one limb 100% of Sum Insured
Total and irrecoverable loss of sight of one eye and loss of one limb 100% of Sum Insured
Permanent Total Disablement 100% of Sum Insured
(other than total and irrecoverable loss of sight of one or both eyes or loss of limb(s)
It should be remembered that when you complete the PIPP application and include details of your spouse then he/she will also be covered under the Accidental Death Benefit and the benefit would automatically be shared between you i.e. USD $ 62,500 cover for yourself and USD $ 62,500 cover for your spouse. If you would prefer your spouse to get all the benefit in the event of your accidental death – do not include their details on the application.
It is also a good idea to make sure that your spouse/next-of-kin knows that you have joined the Pilots Income Protection Plan – just in case you are not in a position to tell them in the event of a claim! Also, remember to keep the Plan Policy Document in a safe place – with your other important documents, as we will need to see it in the event of a claim.
